On March 26, the full-time appointment ceremony for Professor Hans Tinneberg, renowned German gynecologist and Founding President of the European Endometriosis League (EEL), was held at the Administration Building of the Zhongshan Campus. Jiang Yong, Member
of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of Southwest Medical University, and President of the Affiliated
Hospital; Xu Yong, Party Secretary of the Affiliated Hospital; Fu Wenguang, Vice President; along with relevant personnel from the
Department of Gynecology, the Hospital Office, the Department of Human Resources, and the Office of International Exchange and
Cooperation, attended the ceremony.

At the appointment ceremony, Jiang put forward three requirements for Tinneberg's tenure: first, to lead the establishment of a high-level endometriosis center; second, to deeply participate in the ongoing development of the gynecological oncology center; third, to focus on
mentoring young teams.
Xu stated that the hospital will make every effort to create an open, inclusive, and collaborative atmosphere, supporting Professor
Tinneberg in carrying out his work with full autonomy. He expressed hope that Professor Tinneberg, while actively engaging in clinical
work, would bring advanced concepts, a rigorous work style, and an innovative spirit to the Department of Gynecology.

Tinneberg will be appointed to lead the preparation and establishment of an endometriosis center of international standards. This move
signifies that, building on the mature operation of the existing gynecological oncology center, the Department of Gynecology will add
another endometriosis center that meets international standards.
Currently, the construction of the Endometriosis Center is being vigorously advanced. The Affiliated Hospital will take this opportunity to deepen international medical cooperation, benchmark against world-class standards, and strive to build a regional and even national hub
for the diagnosis, treatment, and research of endometriosis, providing women with higher-quality and more compassionate health care.
As one of the founders of the field of endometriosis in Europe, Tinneberg has devoted his life to promoting evidence-based,
patient-centered standardized diagnosis and treatment. The European Endometriosis League (EEL), which he founded, remains an
important platform connecting leading endometriosis centers worldwide.
In 2026, the Congress of the European Endometriosis League officially established “the Hans Tinneberg Award” to honor global scholars who have made outstanding contributions in the field he pioneered.
In March 2026, Tinneberg officially joined the Affiliated Hospital of Southwest Medical University on a full-time basis and will lead the
establishment of an endometriosis center that meets international standards.
