Recently, Professor Dimitrios Theofanidis from the International Hellenic University (IHU) visited Southwest Medical University to deliver a nursing academic lecture and conduct research exchange activities. Professor Dimitrios focused on the theme of “The Greek Nursing and Healthcare System,” providing a detailed introduction to the structure of Greek national healthcare system, the challenges encountered during healthcare reform and corresponding strategies, as well as the application of evidence-based nursing in healthcare. More than 50 graduate students from the School of Nursing attended the lecture, which was moderated by Zhao Xiaolei, Head of the Academic Affairs Section of the School of Nursing.

This event served as an important bridge for nursing academic exchange between SWMU and IHU, broadening academic horizons and research perspectives.

About Dimitrios Theofanidis

Dimitrios Theofanidis, PhD, is a Professor of Nursing at IHU. He obtained a Master’s degree in Gerontological Nursing from the University of Liverpool, a Master‘s degree in Ethics from the School of Theology at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, a PhD in Stroke Nursing from the University of Bath, and a postdoctoral degree from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional Francisco Morazán in Honduras within the framework of “EU-Latin America Cooperation”.

He has previously worked in emergency nursing and neurological nursing, with research interests in stroke care and rehabilitation nursing. He teaches clinical skills, community nursing, health education, rehabilitation nursing, geriatric nursing, and public health nursing to undergraduate nursing students, and delivers two postgraduate courses on diabetes patient care and health management.
