From November 30 to December 3, He Tao, Vice‑Secretary of the University Party Committee and President of the University, led a delegation from the university to Thailand to attend the 2025 Conference of the South‑Asia and Southeast‑Asia Alliance for Medical Education and Healthcare.

During the conference, He Tao took part in the Alliance’s working meeting and chaired the keynote session. He delivered a plenary speech entitled "Empowering Teaching Reform in Clinical Medicine Education through Educational Digitalization: Practices from Southwest Medical University". Members of the delegation attended presentations given by experts from member medical schools of the Alliance, and actively participated in panel discussions on "Cultivating Top‑tier Medical Talents" and "Promoting Regional Sharing of Medical Education and Healthcare Resources". They also held face‑to‑face exchanges with experts from Thailand, Bangladesh, Pakistan and other countries on topics including medical education cooperation and joint scientific research. In addition, He Tao and the delegation paid a special visit to Chulalongkorn University to hold in‑depth discussions on inter‑university cooperation.

The trip achieved fruitful results. The delegation gained an in‑depth understanding of the latest trends in regional medical education development and further consolidated existing partnerships with member institutions of the Alliance. This has laid a solid foundation for future programs, including reciprocal visits of faculty and students, joint research and joint education. As a founding member of the South‑Asia and Southeast‑Asia Alliance for Medical Education and Healthcare, the university will continue to leverage the Alliance as a key platform, fully support health‑related cooperation between China and South‑Asian and Southeast‑Asian countries, and contribute its expertise to the high‑quality development of regional medical education and healthcare services.
