外籍教师规章制度 REGULATIONS FOR THE FOREIGN TEACHERS

I. Policies Specific to Foreign Teachers

1.Foreign teachers must abide by the Chinese national and local laws and regulations concerned. No missionary activity is allowed.

2.Foreign teachers cannot leave the campus to do things such as traveling during work time. On weekends and holidays, foreign teachers should inform the officials in the Foreign Affairs Office of LZMC if leaving the city.

3.On arrival at the college, foreign teachers must check all the things in the apartment. Fee for unreasonable damages will be assessed when he/she finishes work and leaves the college.

4.The apartment is provided only for the use of the foreign teachers.

Visitors from other sites may stay overnight in a foreign teacher’ apartment. All visitors who stay overnight must inform the Foreign Affairs Office with their names and passport numbers. Visitors of opposite sex cannot stay overnight in a foreign teacher’s apartment.

5.Each school year is divided into 2 semesters, usually the 1st semester is from September to January and the 2nd semester is from March to July. The winter vacation usually is 5 weeks between January and February and the summer vacation usually is 7 weeks between July and August. The exact time of each semester is different depending on the Chinese Lunar Calendar.

6.In addition to summer and winter vacations, foreign teachers can enjoy other holidays given by the Chinese government. These holidays are:

(a) New Year's Day, 1 day on January 1st.

(b) International Labor Day, 3 days around May 1st.

(c) National Day of China, 3 days around October 1st.

The above holidays usually are arranged to be connected with 1-2 weekends.

7.In the apartment, all the facilities are free including the internet, electricity, water, gas and pure water for drinking. Telephone bill is covered by the foreign teachers themselves. Please remember to save energy and do not waste.

8.At the beginning of each semester, foreign teachers are required to come back from the vacation at least 3 days before the new semester begins.

II. Policies on teaching

1.Foreign teachers should hand in a syllabus at the beginning of each semester, which is to be checked by the dean of the concerned department, and then submitted it to the Foreign Affairs Office. This syllabus includes what will be taught in the semester, how the time is distributed and how each class is arranged. The teachers should also have another detailed plan for each class. It includes the purpose, content, process, teaching method and homework for each class. It will be checked at the end of each semester, and then be handled to the Foreign Affairs Office.

2.There is a question bank of each subject for the final examination in each semester, which is consisted of 100 questions given by the Chinese teacher and 100 questions given by the foreign teacher. The foreign teacher is required to give it to the Foreign Affairs Office within 10 weeks after each semester begins.

3.The teachers are required to prepare 3-5 sets of different question papers for the final examination of each semester, which should include a correct answer sheet for each set. Please submit it to the Foreign Affairs Office within 10 weeks after each semester begins.

4.Teachers should not leak the examination paper to the students, however, it is all right to review the subject to all the students in the classroom. If a teacher is found leaking the exam paper, he/she will be expelled and fined which will be taken out directly from the salary.

5.Foreign teachers are required to be serious in preparing and going through examination papers, and correct the papers together with the Chinese teachers. At the end of each semester, the final examination papers should be submitted to the Foreign Affairs Office, they will be kept for one year so that individual student can check it together with the officials of Foreign Affairs Office if the student has any inquiry about the paper.

6.Foreign teachers must complete all such work as preparing teaching notes, lecturing, coaching, organizing extra-curriculum activities and going over exercises books. At the end of each semester, the teachers should complete correcting question papers and submit the marks of the students to the Foreign Affairs Office before leaving the college.

7.Teachers cannot change classes with other teachers or reschedule classes without permission. For illness or important personal reasons, they can apply to the Foreign Affairs Office to get permission from the college and going through necessary procedures.

8.Teachers must teach as the curriculum provides. Teachers cannot change the content or requirements. The use of textbooks is up to the concerned department and the teachers have no right to change the textbooks. All other materials used in class must go through examination and approval of the department leader. The additional materials must be good for students and should not be obscene, pornographic and propagandistic in religion. The school has right to stop the use of any teaching material if it is thought inappropriate for students.

9.A comprehensive evaluation on teachers’ teaching is done at the end of every semester. The evaluation will be done by the concerned department (40%) and the Foreign Affairs Office (60%). At the end of each semester, the Foreign Affairs Office will give a final evaluation of the teacher and inform the teacher if the contract will be continued or not.

10.If a teacher can not go to a class for emergency personal reasons, he should ask for a leave to the Foreign Affairs Office ahead of time ( At least half an hour before the class begins) to get permission.

11.Students should have some homework. Teachers are expected to give homework after each class.

12.If a student wants to ask for a leave, he/she should ask for a leave to the Foreign Affairs Office ahead of time. Otherwise, he/she will be considered Absence. Attendance of a student should be considered in the final score of each subject.

13.If the foreign teachers are invited to give lectures, take part in the activities outside of the college, they should tell the inviter to have a contact with the officials in the Foreign Affairs Office to get permission.

III. Salary counting and airticket reimbursement

1.In order to give the foreign teachers longer time for the application of resident permit and for traveling, the employing period in the contract is longer than the actual period, the salary is counted according to the exact date of starting and finishing work of each semester.

2.The salary of the teachers is counted from the day he/she begins to teach. If he/she teaches less than 30 days in one month, the salary is counted by weeks (1 month is divided into 4 weeks).

3.The teachers will not get paid for the winter vacation and the summer vacation, but will get paid for the 3 national holidays.

4.The airfare reimbursement is 6000 RMB for the teacher who works for 1 school year (which is divided into 2 semesters), and 3000 RMB for the teacher who works for 1 semester. It is given to the teacher, or to the company if it covered partially the ticket.
