2026 SWMU Admission to the Clinical Medicine Program (Bachelor’s Degree)

General information

- Duration: 6 years (5 years of medical coursework + 1 year of internship)

- Language of instruction: English

Fees (in RMB)

- Registration Fee: 2,400 RMB (first year only); 240 RMB/year (years 26)

- Annual Tuition: 31,000 RMB/year

- Hostel Fee: 8,000 RMB/room/year (shared by two students)

Note: Additional costs such as insurance, visa, textbooks, and other miscellaneous fees will be billed at actual cost.

Prerequisites

- Age: 1830 years old.

- Educational background: applicants must hold a Senior High School Diploma or equivalent, with satisfactory academic performance.

- Language requirements: applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate English proficiency through one of the following:

 - IELTS Academic: overall score of 6.0 or above (no band below 5.0);

 - TOEFL iBT: overall score of 70 or above (no section below 15);

 - Other equivalent English test results accepted by the university.

 Applicants whose native language is English, or who have received their entire secondary education in English-medium institutions, are exempt from the above test requirements. However, they must submit proof of English proficiency and an English-medium instruction certificate issued by their graduating secondary school.

- Applicants must pass the SWMU online interview (including a psychological test) and the entrance examination. The entrance examination covers English, mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology. It will be conducted upon arrival, prior to registration. Failure to pass the examination will result in disqualification from enrollment.

- Applicants are required to purchase medical insurance throughout their studies at our university.

- Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens in good physical and mental health. For applicants who were formerly Chinese citizens and have acquired foreign citizenship, the provisions of the Notice of the Ministry of Education on Regulating the Admission of International Students by Chinese Higher Education Institutions (JWH [2020] No. 12) shall apply.

Application Materials

- SWMU Application Form for International Students (downloadable from the website).

- SWMU Student Family Information Form (downloadable from the website).

- SWMU Student Personal Information Form for the Clinical Medicine Program (downloadable from the website).

- Copy of valid passport (with at least 1 year of validity remaining upon application).

- Copies of Senior High School Diploma and notarized copies of academic transcripts.

- Physical Examination Report (must be an original document bearing the official seal of a recognized government hospital).

- Proof of English language proficiency (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL, or equivalent certificate).

- Electronic ID photos meeting the following requirements:

 - 2-inch, white background, with a minimum resolution of 320 × 240 pixels;

 - aspect ratio of 4:3;

 - file size between 100500 KB in JPG format;

 - each photo should be named with the applicant's passport number.

Application Procedure

- Application Period: July August, 2026.

 *Note: The application period may be extended based on actual enrollment conditions.

- The university will review all application materials. Applicants who pass the initial review will be invited for an interview (including a psychological test).

- The Confirmation Letter and the Visa Application Form for International Students (Form JW202) will be sent to successful applicants, who may then apply for an X visa at the Chinese embassy or consulate in their home country.

- Upon arrival on campus, the university will verify the authenticity of all application materials and assess applicants' academic performance, conduct, and other relevant aspects. If any discrepancy or unsatisfactory result is found, the university reserves the right to revoke the admission offer.

- The university will administer the entrance examination upon students' arrival on campus. Applicants who fail the examination will not be eligible for enrollment or visa extension.

Scholarship

- Entrance Scholarship: Based on their entrance exam results, freshmen will be awarded a one-time scholarship ranging from RMB 4,000 to 6,000 in tiers (4,000, 5,000, or 6,000).

- Provincial Government Scholarship: 20,000 RMB/year (competitive, subject to annual review).

- Academic Scholarship: 1,8003,300 RMB/year (competitive, subject to annual review).

a) Email soft copies of all required documents to iceo@swmu.edu.cn. Please ensure that the Application Form for International Students, the SWMU Student Personal Information Form for MBBS Program, and the SWMU Student Family Information Form are completed truthfully.

b. Submit the hard copy of documents to Office #301 Decheng Building, No.1 Section 1 Xianglin Rd, Longmatan District, Luzhou, Sichuan, P.R.China 646000.
